A Claddagh ring is a traditional Irish ring that symbolizes love (heart)*, friendship (hands) and loyalty (the crown). It is also thought that you can wear the ring to show your romantic availability -- on the right hand with heart facing outwards, you're available. Facing inwards, you're taken.
